AMP Interviews with the biggest movers and shakers in the Apartment Management Industry

My husband truly knows EVERYONE in the Atlanta market and when he encouraged me to introduce myself to Dana Hill at the GAA Conference in Florida a couple years ago, I frustratingly whined “I can’t get to her.”  Why?  Because she essentially had the multifamily paparazzi around her!  That’s when I quickly learned that Dana is someone to know.  She has been in the industry a long time and she has that certain Je ne sais quoi charming everyone around her.  I am truly glad my husband pushed his way through the paparazzi and introduced us!

I love dissecting words and looking for greater meaning like the word Apartment.  What sets you “Apart” and why are you “Meant” for the multifamily industry?

I truly find people interesting and intriguing even when we don’t agree. I think it comes through when connecting with potential customers. That coupled with my sincere desire to make a positive impact has helped me in my career to have long term success.

How and when did you get your start in the industry?

I started back in 1991 with the Apartment Shoppers Guide (bka RentPath) as it was known in the Washington/Baltimore market.

Feelin’ Good by Nina Simone

What is your proudest moment in multifamily?

Who is your mentor and why?

I have a few that I recognize officially and a few that are mentoring me from afar such as Michelle Obama. I think the why is obvious; others in the industry that you may know are Virginia Love, Nadeen Green, and Dr. Debbie Phillips.  Why, because they are industry experts that have never been afraid to challenge me and hold me accountable.

What book has left the biggest impression on your life?

The Color Purple and The Bible

If you ever owned an apartment community, where would it be and what would you name it?

Northern Virginia, Exquisite Hills

My trip to Europe that included Switzerland, Paris, Nice, Monaco, and Milan

If our country went to 4-day work weeks, how would you spend your 5th day?
